In preparation for our coming, we've been reading about the history of the current political situation and conflict here. We've definitely been challenged by what we've read, seen, and heard about the people here, and would invite you to learn more about the people in this very tense part of the Middle East:Elias Chacour - "Blood Brothers" (easy read, very powerful); Sandy Tolan - "The Lemon Tree" (outstanding story!); Alan Dowty- "Israel/Palestine" (dense, but informative); Gary Burge - "Whose Land? Whose Promise?" (highly recommended)

A Journey into the Christian Sites of Old Jerusalem

medium_Crusader_s_Enterance_to_the_Gogotha_Shrine.JPG We've been taking long walks all over the city in the evenings to get our bearings. Jerusalem is such an amazing city, there is rich history tucked into every street. The old city itself is divided into four quarters, 2 Christian, 1 Jewish, and 1 Muslim. We spent an entire morning walking through one of the Christian quarters, which contains some of the oldest Christian historical sites in the world. It was an amazing experience to be in places where the events surrounding Jesus actually took place, and where millions of Christians have come to remember those events over the centuries. WOW!!! What a tour. This seems sureal to me...that you are walking where He walked. I'm with Krissy...I want more of Jessica's voice, and more pictures of Tim :-) Really, these are awesome, keep posting them.

WOW! What an amazing, life-changing experience for you two! And for us, as we read your posts and explore your website. What a great way to communicate! I'm so old-school, but this is a perfect way to share your experiences with others. I can't wait to read more. I love the video clips and the classic wry-smile, and professorly narrations of Tim. We miss you guys too! We were just in Portland a couple weeks ago and saw the Tenkleys. It's exciting to see what all the members of the old Life Group are doing now. jo jo sent me the link to your blog, its great to see picts and the descriptions are quite informative. i found that the videos crash firefox, but work in windows explorer, so that's good :)

Hey guys!
We're here at the Staatses having a Life Group get-together and it's just not the same without you! We're thinking fondly of days gone by and at the same time planning for the future...thinking of adding 2 new young couples for the coming year (fresh blood!) When Nancy asked if anybody had any news, I could just hear Jessica piping in, "We're pregnant!" Anyway, looks like your adventure is going well. You continue to be in our hearts and our prayers...we love you guys!
