In preparation for our coming, we've been reading about the history of the current political situation and conflict here. We've definitely been challenged by what we've read, seen, and heard about the people here, and would invite you to learn more about the people in this very tense part of the Middle East:Elias Chacour - "Blood Brothers" (easy read, very powerful); Sandy Tolan - "The Lemon Tree" (outstanding story!); Alan Dowty- "Israel/Palestine" (dense, but informative); Gary Burge - "Whose Land? Whose Promise?" (highly recommended)

high adventure with the Mackie-Haddon's

Some dear friends from our Portland days, Brian and Gelayol Haddon, came to visit us last week. It was essentially nine straight days of conversation, with some sight-seeing attached. It gave Jessica and I a chance for one last trip to our favorite places in the country before we head back to the States in 3 weeks, and we also got to see some new places. medium_IMG_7807.JPGBrian (aka Buddy) and Gelayol live in Bakersfield, CA, so the weather was essentially the same for them. Agree Bruce, The best was the mud spa and to think they found a volcano and museum in all this time they had missed before... Maybe a few more treats will be found and had before 3 wks is up.
